[Updated] New software update for E71 – 210.21.006

I was today mailed by a blog reader – Vegard about a discovery of new software available for E71! Indeed I have just updated Nokia Software Updater (to version 1.4.98en) and it shows possible update from version 200.21.118 to a new one marked as 210.21.006.

Please check it for your product codes and share your experiences! I will update you as soon as I finish my update procedure.

[Comment after installation]: Sorry I made you wait so long for a first update. My E71 is OK after updating the software to the newest version. I have an impression that this time it took less time. I haven’t found any big changes, so I would be interesting in finding maybe official release notes or change log.

One of blog readers commented that this update fixes known photo purple haze. I will wait with my comment on it until tomorrow, when I’d be able to take some photos in a natural light. Unfortunately, as usual, after restoring phone’s memory image from a memory card, I had to reinstall some crucial for me applications (Nokia Messaging, Nimbuzz, dictionaries).

from .118 to .006 isnt that a downgrade? or is it that .006 would be better?

  4. 4 m March 17, 2009 at 4:36 pm

oops sorry. just noticed the 200 to 210!

  5. 5 afi March 17, 2009 at 4:53 pm

well I still get my 200.21.118 rm346 27/11/2008.. and it brought my browser broken..

I’m having mayor trouble installing the firmware on my E71: it will just reboot and keep working with the old firmware. I’m now trying with factory resets to see if the update program will then continue loading the firmware instead of effectively doing a reset after 5 minutes.

The only thing I noticed so far is that it removed the nasty purple tint from camera…Good enough for me 🙂

  8. 8 Vanstra March 17, 2009 at 7:47 pm

Just installed it and till now it’s working fine.
    No problems at all.

  14. 14 Martijn March 17, 2009 at 9:32 pm

Wow.. after your update I checked and the photo’s indeed seem to look much better. But I’ll have to check in daylight to be sure.

It would be really cool if the color cast is finally gone!

  15. 15 Perza March 17, 2009 at 9:44 pm

Well my purple tint in camera is gone, as posted previously…But at closer inspection I noticed that picture is now everywhere (except in the center) in slight green tint (!) :/ That goes for imaging in indoor with lights so maybe that doesn’t occur outside.

  16. 16 Perza March 17, 2009 at 9:55 pm

Here are some photos I took (indoor/lights on) with this new firmware and it shows the green tint around the center:

From the photos especially the middle one the green tint looks like it is stronger from the center to the upper left corner.
      Not sure why?

@perza eww. Can you post some outdoors or natural light photos?

    waiting for official changelog

Works for the India product code. Should be a bugfix since I cannot see any major changes. The phone seems more stable than before.

im from philippines. i’ve updated my e71 with the new firmware but after updating i’ve notice that my browser is not working and cannot connect to the web. is there anybody out there with the same kind of problem? hope someone could help me. thanks.

  23. 24 Voltron March 19, 2009 at 11:20 am

    See post March 18…

I’ve changed my productcode to a regular benelux grey version instead of my black one. I ran the update again and everything was back to normal. I rather have the original productcode with full functionality, because my keys where miraculously turn to Azerty and my home-key wasn’t working at all.
Does any one has the same problems? I’ve heard of one more at another forum.

    Hey folks,

FWIW….I noticed that as of this week, the Nokia Software page for my N. American phone (code – 0569371) at http://europe.nokia.com/A4577224 has now been back-released to 100.07.76 when last week and prior it had been showing 200.21.118. I have not checked what version is avilable when accessed from PC Suite.

I just got my E71 updated to the latest version, v210.21.006. The clock on standby screen is not working properly, but the built-in one works fine. Anyone has the same problem?

  29. 30 cbr April 1, 2009 at 8:54 am

what product code do you have? And Do you still have qwerty keyboard? Or do you have quertz keyboard.
    thanks for the info.

  30. 31 Vantha April 6, 2009 at 10:26 am

    @ cbr,

My E71 product code is 0560654. I still have the qwerty keyboard now. Besides problem with the clock, the camera now also takes more time to load, but the picture quality seems to be better.

  31. 32 Stan May 1, 2009 at 11:23 am

There is a problem with the standby clock after the update, but all you need to do is a factory reset and it will work fine again.

  32. 33 Mohammed Hassan May 29, 2009 at 10:42 am

I have installed the update but I missed all my contacts and the memory keep saying installation not completed. also I can’t syncronise with outlook.
