My dear, wounded E71

Wounded E71It is a sorrow moment of sharing with you a fact, that because of irresponsibility, my beloved E71 is wounded. I’m sure I will find in here many other users full of understanding for my sadness. Please be wiser and never put your “naked” E71 with keys or other sharp items into your pocket.

Check the hi-res photo in E71 Group flickr pool.

I carry around my E71 in this case:

    http://www.sfbags.com/products/cellphonecases/cellphonecases.htm

It’s a very thin suede fabric pouch that’s just stretchy enough to fit around the phone. It adds no bulk, but protects the phone from keys, coins, whatever in your pocket.

I’m using the iPhone 3G version and it’s fine. But since I’ve bought mine they introduced one made especially for the E71, which I’m sure is even better.

Yeah, I love their products too. Seriously built to last….
      (Waterfield Designs sfbags.com that is)

At least your baby didn’t drop out of your jacket pocket, like mine . . .

It’s gutting when that happens however you can say sorry by getting it a new shell http://cnn.cn/shop/nokia-e71-c-24_571.html,
while they’re still in stock. If you do plan on getting new housing for your phone be sure to have a T5 and T6 screwdriver.

    If not, then be strong!!

Luckily, you can order replacement parts from http://www.cnn.cn if you’re willing to change it yourself. Shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes if you can find a suitable disassembly guide… (there are plenty on the internet)

You’re having my condolence… so this is a really good argument for using the bag, which was inside the box of the E71.

Kind regards & keep on bloging,
    Stefan

I’ve only just bought my E71 and have ordered a Krusell case like I’ve had on my 3 previous phones.

You know, over where I am (Brunei), it’ll cost you about US$45 to change the steel casing.

You could possible buff that out. Pick up a cap cod cloth (http://www.capecodpolish.ca/) they are used frequently for removing scratches on watches.

  11. 12 Roppon March 11, 2009 at 2:27 pm

Been carrying the phone around ‘naked’ for some time, as the original case got lost. Casing is just cosmetic though. Phone still works so I hope you don’t feel too down about it.

You can order this scraped part from http://www.klc.fi/en/products.php?g1=40c410&g2=d965d1
    But replacing is little painful.

Hey, that’s too bad man. It really hurts!

I got a zagg invisible shield (www.zagg.com), and I really recomend it. Take a look, they offer a lifetime replacement warranty if your shield gets a scratch while protecting your device. I got the full body shield, it comes with handy tools for the installation. And with this you dont have to carry a big case or a bag.

I must say, I don’t work for them, I’m only a happy customer!

    Best regards,

At least you didn’t drop yours in the toilet and have it sit there for about 15 seconds till you were able to fish it out.
But you guys should be happy to know it still works:)

my heart broke with my first accident as well. here’s another place that sells more parts than the cnn shop at competitive prices. In fact you can just order that bottom “lip” separately. And if you’re an LA, CA native then pick up in glendale.

    good luck.

and how disappointed were you when you realized that that most vulnerable of pieces isn’t even METAL, like you thought it was??? I was so bummed when that happened to my E71!

  19. 21 Dries March 19, 2009 at 1:02 pm

I concur with all those who recommend ZAGG. I have ZAGGed
my E71, my old Moto E6, ipod as well as my camera. Truly outstanding line of products.

  20. 22 George March 30, 2009 at 6:51 pm

    Hey,

I own a E71 too, and I accidentally left mine fall on the ground, and it got some small scratches on the metal case, near the red button.

After a fast search on Ebay, I found the complete set of metal cap, metal case (including the display) and middle part. All original and costing only USD 19.00 in Hong Kong. Bought the set and it came even with the exact 2 tools needed to make the repairs. My phone now is like a brand new one.

    Best Regards,

    George

    Hey,
Does anyone has tried replacement housing for E71 from eBay? They are quite cheap (~20USD) and shipped form China including the tools. Any ideas on quality?
