Does this impact the ability to use unsigned apps?

  4. 4 Rama January 13, 2009 at 1:37 pm

I still get the message, that there is no update higher than 110.07.27
It’s a Danish version, so I don’t understand why it doesn’t find the new version?? Any ideas why?

My Polish phone (retail version) is successfully updated. New red and black themes are really nice. I see comments that camera is also improved.

@Dexter: I’m also PL. How did you make this update. Should I be aware od loosing all date from the phone? What kindo of data shoul I move to storage card? Give me some suggestions – I’d rather not end with empty phone with new firmware – it’ll be useless. 😉

The business theme looks nice and the shortcut to writing language is pretty handy too… 🙂 I like it!

Its always hard to update because you will need a lot of time to configure all apps even though you have a copy……

Yesterday I updated my E71. Everything went fine but not my critical app- Exchange. I could not connect and got the message “system failure” all the time.

Im a frequent user of my corporate pushmail so I got PANIC and our supportservice couldnt help me.

My solution was to remove mse completely and download it from
“downloads” in the phone. Now it works and Im happy again:-)

One thing I noticed after my download is that the batterycapacity has improved A LOT 🙂

    >>Its always hard to update because you will need a lot of time to configure all apps even though you have a copy……

I agreed but looking at the positive way, it makes you realized what applications are really important for you and what need to be thrown away. Also, having a backup of the data & configuration will make the update easier. It took me very minimal effort to update & restore the applications. 🙂

Anyway, i still find the same issue after the update – sometimes i couldn’t go to the menu (by pressing the home button). Have to reboot the phone. Although it does not happen very often, but it makes me feel that either the phone software or the symbian OS is still not very stable yet.

There are some bugs fixed in new firmware but have appeared new bugs like: can’t turn off camera sound (sic!), some backup problems, more crashes or freezes. Some other problems: http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/discussions/board/message?board.id=swupdate&thread.id=45616

  25. 26 Gerard January 31, 2009 at 2:01 am

I’m on 100.07.76 and Nokia updater is telling me thats up to date.

    My model is : RM-346 Nokia E-71-1 (241.02)

    Keep waiting?

  26. 27 J February 11, 2009 at 12:02 pm

if you use your E71 as alarm clock and want to make use of the “snooze” functionality : don’t update to v200.21.118. After the first “snooze”, the phone stops the reminder until you manually switch on the phone again. Serious bug imho, I almost missed 2 important meetings this week due to this.

    • 28 Dvir Reznik May 16, 2009 at 4:24 pm

I have the exact same problem, but with V210.21.006 version – it’s a new phone (week old), and that’s the firmware that came with it. Any way to fix this? that snooze problem is really annoying.. Did it work in older versions?
      Thanks!

  27. 29 Bozin February 11, 2009 at 11:18 pm

Has anyone noticed a lower battery life since the latest patch? My battery life was around 4-5 days with some WiFi using during the day, some 30-60 mins of talking time, and some GPS usage for couple of hours. After the patch, my battery life reduced significantly, 2.5 days max, and I am using even less options.

Can anyone help me with this or refer some forum or something?

    Thx in advance!

  28. 30 Korgunal March 5, 2009 at 8:30 pm

    Hello everybody,

Like Bozin, my battery life is significantly decreased, too.I am using my E71 for listening music, navigation and 30 min. talking in a day, and the battery was last about 8 day without charging before update. After the new firmware, I have to charge my phone every 3 days. What is the problem?

  29. 31 Rass March 14, 2009 at 9:32 am

    Hey everybody…

I have just bought the new Nokia e71 and I must say that it’s amazing phone. It has everything you can require of a phone.

BUT… I have a problem – I have bought it in malaysia, which means that there is only 4 writing languages available: Francias, English, Portugues and Español.

Can somebody tell if it is possible to supply my phone with a Danish writing language? And how.?

In advance – Thank you… Rass

The update bricked my phone after failing to install correctly. I had to give it to a Nokia flagship store for ‘service’. They say that I could have my phone back as early as tomorrow, if they can recover it. Otherwise, my phone will be gone for a week (!) while Nokia sends it to a service center.

I had a WindowsMobile phone before this. I update the ROM twice with no incident. I would advise thinking twice about purchasing an E71, and 3 times about performing the update.

hi..I’ve just update my E71 today..I’ve got some nicely features, but it comes with a lot of mad in the browser..it didnt work..I’ve brought it to Nokia counter and none of them could solve that problems..actually, I could use this phone as a modem..and I dont have any problems with third apps for chatting&email. it means i still have my connection with cell operator (telkomsel, I live in Indonesia)..but I cant reach the browser..
