Did you know it is possible to run N-Gage games on your E71? One of blog readers mailed me about a YouTube video showing N-Gage installed on Nokia E71, which is of course not supporting N-Gage platform. I’ve contacted with author of this presentation (in Spanish) and it appeared to be no fake at all! Check by yourself!
Of course the actions required to play the N-Gage games on E71 involves hacking its operating system, but if you are gaming enthusiast it might be worth trying.

N-gage is pretty useless on e71 cause the num keys dont register. I tried using magic key and it doesn’t work for me either.
Anyone else try this out? I’ve gotten as far as getting the client to run on the phone but I think i may be missing the 20001079.txt file. The screen seems off, and i can’t seem to view anything on the lower portion of the screen properly. Any suggestions? maybe some on with the 20001079.txt file?

I have done this with nokia 5700 which haven’t support for n-gage. it’s pretty simple. I think you can solve your keypad broblems with Magickey.
I tried MagicKey, but I cant find how to re-map key to other key. I only find assing key to application and its useless for me. So i tried chinese app Virtual Key and wtf? I can remap may whole qwerty keyboard. This application has one great function – you can include in which program/game you want to use mapped keys. I have mapped letters to numbers and “space” to 5 (mostly jump) and included all games.

Well for those wondering why the nGage interface is not displaying properly let me tell you that as we speak there’s no solution for that (I’m working on a way to fix this but still no success) I may end up editing the .swf files that make the interface and let you know if it works or not, however all the hidden functions on the chopped up menues are fully functional, so don’t hesitate to use them, but good thing is that most games run just fine as you may have noticed.
Since I filmed the video I’ve installed several other titles such as The One (cool 3D fighting game), Crash Bandicoot Nitro Cart (racing game), Bloom Blox (nice puzzler), Resident Evil Degeneration (awesome 3D Thriller Game), Metal Gear Solid Mobile (very adictive 3D tactic game), Pro Series Golf and FIFA 09 (soccer game)

Sry for the language, (I’m Hungarian): There’s no legal way to put the N-gage on your E71… Or E61, and E61i. I have an E61i, and… Yes, I hacked it! The E71 is a much better phone, but I did’nt had to do anything with the qwerty on my e61i! It worked for me without magickey, it’s surely because the differences of the symbian op. systems. (Hahha… Sorry
But the games are working very well, except the asphalt3 for example… That’s a funny thing, and the e71 owners surely know this situation very well: GAMELOFT JUST CAN’T CHANGE HIS GAMES TO WORK ON 320X240 SCREEN RESOLUTION… AARRRGGHHH! When you have a 240X320 phone, you can change the orientation of the screen, but if you havee61/e61i/E71, YOU CANT PLAY GL GAMES! Such a stupid behaviour from a company which wants to earn money…
So it’s like I would be blind

The E61i has a 220Mhz processor, so its very sssssllllooooowwwww
Anyway, N-gage 2.0 isn’t a big-something now, there are just a few enjoyable games… But yes, they are working well. Bounce was very funny for example, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as the first episode on the old nokias… This isn’t a joke, that was simple and just better!
Ohh, and Gameloft: It’s very funny, that Block breaker works on my E61i, but it cant rotate the screen, so I can’t see my… Pad, or how do you call that. My ball shooter

On the net you can find easily a hack for that, I give You just one advice: Follow ALL the steps of the hack description, because if you miss one little thing, you can search it for hours… Follow it and trust it, your phone will not explode or shoot you… God luck!

Hello. I succeed in installing n-gage on my E71, I work very well and very easy to install, I am very happy with the application in terms of graphics and games, but I can not change the buttons, in fact the keyboard does not work with the application In all the games I have at some point I need the keyboard and left the game up there because I do not know how to make it work. install applications one is called “Magic Key” to change the location of keys and “possibly” work, but until now I have not worked at all. if anyone knows how to operate the keypad of the E71 for n-gage app please publish it.

For those having problems with the keys, just search Youtube.com for MagicKey Nokia (or something like that) and you’ll find some tutorials on how to configure. Pretty easy.

I’ve succesfully installed n-gage v.1.40 on E71, but the only way to MagicKeys to work is remapping keyboard for all apps. I try to assign the new map to an app ID 0x20007b39 (Juegos in spanish), but this is not working… do you know another solution for this?

Have you tried to map a keymap to the game’s UID instead of the ngage app?
You’ll need JBak Task Manager to find out UIDs.
It’s been a while since I played with n-gage so I’m not sure if that works.
