I really love Nokia Sports Tracker application and personally this is one the main reasons for me to choose Nokia device and S60 platform. What I have tested in the last few days is impressive battery performance of E71 and GPS tracking.
This week I have tracked two of my bike rides taking 5-6 hours each. At the same time the phone was used for listening FM radio or playing mp3 files. Moreover, in rural area the phone had poor GSM signal strength, which also has impact on energy consumption. Result? Very good! Fully charged device lost only 3 or 4 battery’s indicator bars after such a trial. In comparison to known poor battery performance of devices like N95, or used previously N80 with external LD-4W – no more than 4 hrs this is it! I know that E71 is a rather business oriented product but I’m sure that every Sports Tracker fan will like this pair.

P.S. Please remember that current NST’ version encounters problem with freezing on a main screen. Workaround hint was posted in here before.
I have this mobile – is the best “in town”!

Wow! Did you have it on your handlebars or something to get the GPS signal?
I usually carry my phone in a back pocket of my cycling shirts. Even if I wear camel backapack at the same time it works fine regarding GPS signal.
On the download page, The E71 is not showing. Which version are you running? The one for N95?
what version did you install for the E71, I try a few versions and none of it works in mine. It simply don’t start.

I was using the one I had installed by default on my device but then I updated it to 1.78 (S60 3.1) and as far as I remeber it was version for: Nokia S60 v3.1 devices (N76, N81, N81 8Gb, E51, 5700, 6110 Navigator, 6120, 6121, 6290)

Naive question from a new e71 user – is this costing anything while it runs, or is the phone operating at this point outside of the phone network?

While you’re recording your track it’s absolutely free as long you don’t use:
- background maps downloading (newest version),
- live sharing of your position.
If you switch off those two features you can us it for free and later upload your recorded track to web page using for example free WIFI hotspot.

Somehow I am not able o upload the workouts from the mobile to the portal. The application sucessfuly complete the upload, but on the portal the workout is not visible.

While I was running Sportstracker in my E71, I wanted to take few print screen of it using ‘Screen Snap’, sportstracker hung. Clicking on program icon doesn’t start sportstracker at all. I uninstalled and re-installed Sportstracker (V 1.75) two times already and when I click icon, it doesn’t start. Any help?

Hi all, Sportstracker problem solved after I installed V1.78. Version change must have removed previous stuck configuration info from my mobile. I hope this doesn’t happen again.
Does sports track do miles at all or just km?
Yes it is possible to switch it between miles and kms in setting > general > units measurement.
Can the E71 pick up the Polar Heart Rate monitor I am keen to track the heart rate and can see that is an option. Any help would be great. Cheers Tamati
The replacement SportsTracker for the Nokia application one will not support the E71! – At least it doesn’t currently? – http://store.ovi.com/content/31721
Endomondo is a poorer functionality alternative but it does support the E71 at least – http://www.endomondo.com
Also altitude is missing in the new sportstracker
