the code *#0000# shows at the end E71(27) Please advise what does (27) means. Does it mean that the phone is opened 27 times.
Has anyone managed to use the “change product code” process to de-brand their phone? I have changed my product code to one of the above (0567050) but when I run the Nokia Software Updater it tells me that there is no new software available and it doesn’t do anything.
@ Matt, same problem here. I can only presume that there are no firmware for it to update to, as the phone is too new.

I recently got a NEW E71 straight from my home operator ERA and the product code is 0570398 – which is not Polish as yours Dexter. And for this product code there is no way to update it to the new firmware.

It is possible that your product code corresponds to the software variant customized for network operator. It this case Nokia may be not yet offering SW update via NSU. I see two solutions:
– ask your operator or local Nokia Care workshop if they are able to give you new software,
– change the product code to the one, which has SW update already available – which is more risky of course.

Thank you for a quick responce. It is strange btw not using Polish as our mother tongue, but since you run this page in English I will stick to it.
Took your advice and made some calls. ERA told me that they do not brand their phones in any way, so update via NSU should be possible. I had before E61 and was able to make the update via NSU. The lady from Customer Service gave a number to NOKIA Hotline, so I mad the call. Another lady after providing the product code told me that the update for this product code is not yet available and she is not able to give me the date. So I have to wait.
But I was able to check something. The release date of new firmware. It was 10th of last month. The month has nearly passed and still no firmware for my E71.
Is there anyone with the same problem as mine? That was unable to update their E71 yet?
I am in Australia, mine E71 code is 0570192, with English, Pilipino & Melayu.

My E71 is a PL retail version. First product code in this post. I think that PC is OK as long as you are using the same HW, not E71-2 for example.

What happened after succesfull update to new software I did pc suite restore and somehow some of the original 3 uk crap got installed. After reset, this beautiful msg showed up “FAILD TO START SYSTEM, CONTACT RETAILER” As I said before its ok but for a moment I tought that I lost it.

same problem as other, I have QWERTY white E71 form vietnam (code 0561926) with only english or vietnam langages. I use it with english but can not send mail or sms in french as there is not any french “accent or other strange french characters…)
As I am french, I look for converting it to EURO QWERTY allowing french at least.
Is there any possibility to find such code ?

Dear, so I tried to convert my asian E71 to euro and pried …
– Using NSS, I first modify the NAM from Original vietnamian Number 0561926 to Euro UK 0567050: RM-346 EURO A UK WHITE STEEL.
I made this number choice as I didn’t wanted French N° as I have Qwerty pad and not azerty pad. Using NSS I Only Write new number and didn’t flash my cellphone after. Then I closed NSS
– And I started Nokia Care suite 1.3.3. My original asian firmware was 210 and He told me that same firmware (210) was available for this european N°. Thus I ask to RE-Update to same firmware. He ask me “are you sure man ?” Say yes and After a while (download firmware and installed it on E71)…Installation failed à 80% (after E71 had resarted and turned to “local mode”.). Thus I was forced to close Nokia care suite.
– And then after few minutes looking at my dead E71, I tried to Started again NSS to change it to Normal mode and pried one more time (last chance guy !)…E71 stared again and moreover Everything is working well and i had possibility to chose French. So, now, my E71 is EURO French using qwerty and predictive text works also great.
Finally, installation failed at 80% but cellphone works great…

It is likely that your phone model is E71-2, meaning that it has other antenna for other HSDPA frequencies than the E71-1 (whose product codes are listed here). In a best case scenario, everything will work OK if you switch product code to E71-1. In worst case scenario your phone will stop working (or will be unable to use HSDPA).

Are you sure guys that your AT&T sim card is 3G sim card? Is 3G service enabled on your phone?
hi guys, i own a e71-1 product code: 0561927, english qwerty, but i want a product code to use spanish language, but if i use euro1 the keyboard will change because its the spanish layout, any suggestion for using english keyboard layout with spanish language? maybe flashing my e71-1 to an american product code (e71-2)? thx!

Euro UK 0567050 can address several countries and Keyboard is qwerty and special characters are those used in the language selected. Did you tried this code ? For France i have all specific accent and intuitive language turn to French.
Were you able to switch from e71-1 to e71-2, changing the product code? If you were, then, is the phone working fine?

Excellent post.. just upgraded my e71 to firmware 410.
however, to have the proper keyboard layout, you need to carefully pick your product code. There is a tool called navifirm that lists them all. just google for it !
